Thing # 19-Web 2.0 Awards

The Web 2.0 Awards were quiet interesting and it was fun to review all of these sites. I loved Yelp. This site allows you to find out about what is great or not so great in your neighborhood as well as other areas of the U.S. You can find, review and blog about such things as restaurants, events, services, nightlife, hotels, etc. The address is: http://www.yelp.com/
Free Small Iced Coffee @ Dunkin' Donuts on May 15th

Thing # 18-Web Apps

Both Goggle Docs & Zoho can be helpful for uploading branch spreadsheets ,so that, other staff members and committee members can review and add information to documents from anywhere.

Thing # 17~Playing in the Sandbox

Wow! I added my blog to OCL webthings blog. I'm amazing myself. I'm not sure how the pbwikis can be used at work. Maybe to create project lists.

Thing #10~Technology Blogging

Technology is an up, down roller coaster ride and I've decided that I don't want to get off the ride. I love the idea of technology simplifying, organizing and enhancing my life. Learning is a challenge that I embrace and we all now know that we've learned a tremendous amount through this challenge. Thank you OCL and the Web 2.0 committee for presenting us with this challenge.

Thing # 16-Wikis

Wiki provides a great way for people to gain more knowledge on a certain subject however false information may be added to a Wiki site. It's important to use credible sources when doing research.

Thing # 15-Library 2.0

Into a new world of librarianship
New technology advances libraries for those who are interested as long as the library remains the "Hub" of the community for social involvement as well as a place for learning.

As technology advances, it is key to continually educate the support staff and listen to the successes and failures of the new technology.

Thing # 14-Technorati

I checked out the Technorati site and I decided not to "claim" my blog just yet. I think that all of this is moving way too fast for me.

Thing 13-Del.icio.us

I set up an account and began listening to a few of the podcasts. I even enjoyed Dave Weinberger's podcast-Everything Miscellaneous. Knowing that I can someday go back and read over and listen to what I've missed is comforting because again time is an issue. Tagging on Del.icio.us can enhance the way a group organizes and information as long as the participants in the group understand what tagging is all about. Right now all of this is over my head.

Thing # 12 NetLibrary and WorldCat

This was the most interesting exercise so far for me. I've used NetLibrary in the past but I prefer ListenNJ. I've downloaded books from both on my home computer.

At my location I've helped customers sign up for accounts for both without a problem.

WorldCat has opened a whole new world for helping the customers find libraries where the materials they need are located. This will be especially helpful for those who are researching.

Library Thing # 11

Posting my books from Library Thing was a bit confusing but I did it. Below you will find my book list. Library Thing is a great site. I'm still trying to figure out how to rearrange my books.

Things #8 & 9 RSS and Feeds

I created the blogline account and subscribed to feeds on this account. I also set up RSS in the favorites on my computer. I won't be using the bloglines account because again it takes too much time. I will use the RSS feeds in my favorites.

Thing # 10~Technology Blogging

Keeping up with the Web Lingo and understanding the "Thing" questions is a big challenge which requires alot of personal time.

After reading all of the OCL blogs I'm very impressed at the creativity and it's been fun learning about fellow staff members and friends. I've made comments on several OCL blogs. I love the use of pictures, videos and other feeds which make the sites more interesting.

While I enjoyed setting up my template I'm not too interested in blogging about the technological aspects of this challenge. Being in the public spotlight is not my thing. I hope that fellow staff members are not analyzing my every word. To me this challenge is simply a vehicle for learning web technology and getting to know other staff members.

I would explain to a customer that blogging is a way of instantly communicating and exchanging thoughts and ideas over an internet website.

I stumbled on this interesting website about whether or not blogging is for you. Perhaps you will find it interesting too!

Thing #7~The Scanner and You

Check Out the Name of the Bridge
My scanned picture-emailed to OCLwebthings. A blast from the past. Fishing was one of my favorite past times as a kid. This bridge is in Burlington County. Can you guess the town?

Thing #5 & 6~Flickr Photo Fun & More Photo Fun

Thing #5-Delicious
Great! I finally figured out how to use the Flick Blogger's Upload tool but I prefer using Picasa. It seems alot easier to me.
Oh, sweet chocolate! Nectar of the gods!
Thing #6
Tagging from my Flickr account was very confusing. Here is a link from my Flickr photo account to my library picture.
